RUMONGE September 15th (ABP) – The governor of Rumonge province, Léonard Niyonsaba, began on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, an awareness campaign for those responsible for different sectors of life in Rumonge province. He started with police and justice officials. During this meeting, Mr. Niyonsaba stressed that he observed officials whose behavior was unworthy. According to him, the latter constitute an obstacle for Burundi to be an emerging country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060, to the extent that they continue to practice fraud, speculation on the sale of different products and corruption. He also deplored irregularities occurring in the judicial sector. He invited everyone in his department to check whether there are elements that are against the vision of the State.

Thus, the governor of the Rumonge province warned those responsible who behave in this way, indicating that they can be sanctioned if they do not change. The officials present at the meeting affirmed that they cannot sabotage the will of the State, meaning that violators of respect for the law are punished at the level of their services.

In the area of justice, the interpretation of laws has been revealed as the main challenge. According to the president of the TGI Rumonge, there must be awareness meetings, capacity building sessions for agents of the justice sector.

The trial files left by the CNTB and kept by the TGI are often neglected by the CSTB delegation during its field visits, which constitutes a major problem in this sector. For him, that creates difficulties in conflict management.

Concerning the administration, the municipal administrators all converged on the disagreement which is often observed between the village leaders and the village notables. Hill notables receive, according to these administrators, lawsuits already settled by the grassroots administration, which means that conflicts are elastic.
