BUJUMBURA September 6th (ABP) – The Burundi National Defense Force (FNDB) has just published a press release through which it formally prohibits the wearing of clothes bearing the same colors as those of military and police outfits.

The FDNB gives civilian populations in possession of those outfits a two-week period to hand them over to members of the defense and security forces, failing which they will be exposed to severe sanctions which are provided for by law.

At the same time, the FDNB prohibits the sale of that type of clothing.

Through the same press release, the FDNB points out that wearing clothes that resemble the outfits of members of the defense and security corps constitutes a potential source of insecurity to the extent that this type of clothing can be used by groups armed groups which are reported in the countries of the sub-region and easily escape the vigilance of law enforcement and the people.
