CIBITOKE August 23rd (ABP) – The Prime Minister of Burundi, Gervais Ndirakobuca, met on Tuesday August 22, at the headquarters of Mabayi commune, in Cibitoke province, the administrative and security officials, the heads of services, the members of the joint security committees and the people of Mabayi, to discuss the security situation.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ndirakobuca called upon the inhabitants of that locality to change their behavior, to denounce those who collaborate with the so-called Rwandan rebels, who sow disorder and terror in Mabayi commune. To achieve this, binding measures have been taken against those who supply those men based in the Kibira forest, the common Burundian-Rwandan border, with arms.

These include food product wholesalers who are now obliged to record each time what they bring with precision of the quantities dispatched to retail traders. Consumers purchasing large quantities must request authorization from the administration.

Traders who have trucks transporting food products, drivers of car or motorcycle taxis, must set up joint security committees for each category of activity, but also notify the police for each suspicious person. He added that whoever disregards this measure, the vehicle and its documents will be seized by law enforcement.

Night rounds must be organized from Tuesday the 22nd for the control of any movement, and only mothers and children are allowed to sleep at night. All administrative accomplices in this observable insecurity in Mabayi commune, which cost the lives of Burundian soldiers on the night of August 3 to 4 and another innocent person on the night of August 9, must be arrested.

Also, the village councilors who boycotted the security meeting of August 22 must be replaced, as well as the leaders of zones of that commune. The Prime Minister himself suspended the Ruhororo zone leader, suspected of taking the lead in supplying those disturbers of peace and security based in the Kibira forest.

Note that a period of one month has been given to remedy the situation and the order forces will be reinforced.
