CIBITOKE, May 8th (ABP) – As part of the “Nkuriza” project of the government of Burundi, 262 bicycles and 262 schoolbags were granted to mothers of light from 131 hills in the Cibitoke province, by the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, last Friday.

The Advisor to the Governor of Cibitoke in charge of development, Ruben Tubirabe, in his speech, called on the beneficiaries of that kit to use it as a good father.

He indicated that those bicycles will facilitate home visits and reach more households, to raise awareness on the prevention of malnutrition, and the participation of families in improving nutrition. Surveys and systematic screening at the community level will be easily carried out for the care and rehabilitation of malnourished children, he said. Thus, the rate and number of children with nutritional deficiencies will decrease, for the good health of children and families, we learned. The Governor’s Advisor urged them not to sell that donation, which is of paramount importance to the beneficiaries in particular, and the community in general.

He asked the TPS and hill managers to monitor on a daily basis whether those bikes are well used and maintained. The women beneficiaries of those bicycles expressed a sigh of satisfaction, and indicated that they will use them wisely, for the good health of children and their mothers. They welcomed that support from the government consisting of bicycles and panniers, emphasizing that the panniers also come at the right time, because they had a problem storing and properly transporting work documents.
