The Burundian Head of State has chaired the Cabinet Meeting

GITEGA August 10th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye chaired, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the Cabinet Meeting with eight items on the agenda.

Among these was the draft law amending draft law N° 1/023 of July 26, 1989 on the organic framework of Burundian public institutions, presented by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.

The same Minister made a communication on the draft law amending Decree-Law N° 1/024 of July 13, 1989 on the organic framework of the personalized administrations of the State, on the one hand; and a note relating to the purchase of shares and the legal compliance of SOCABU, on the other hand.

In turn, the Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism presented the bill in relation to the national strategy for the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area. As for the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and the Media, her presentations concerned two points, namely the project for the operation and maintenance of the digital terrestrial television network between the State of Burundi and the digital television company of Burundi, on the one hand; and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Burundi and SEACOM LIMITED, on the other hand. The Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, for his part, presented the note on the need to develop old State woodlots, including that of Gakara-Gahuni.

The Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, for his part, presented the note on the state of play of the implementation of the observations and recommendations made in the Cabinet Meeting of April 5, 2023, relating to the development project for the KABU 16 (20MW) hydroelectric plant.
