GITEGA June 12th (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, proceeded on Saturday June 10, 2023 to the official inauguration of the modern hotel called Matergo Hotel (Marie Thérèse Gorgie) located in the Musinzira quarter of the urban center of Gitega (Center of the country). That hotel was built by the congregation of the Bene Tereza nuns.
In his opening remarks, the governor of Gitega province, Mr. Venant Manirambona, said that he is very satisfied with the achievements of the Bene Tereza sisters in the provincial development in several fields including education, health, tourism and others.
The Governor of Gitega reported that the communal administration of Gitega in collaboration with the provincial administration have drawn up a list of the best spaces that are in the urban center of Gitega, in which investors can erect great works.
To that end, he called on other investors to come and invest in the hotel sector in Gitega and that there are better places reserved for them.
Taking the floor, the President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye warmly thanked the Congregation of the Bene Tereza Sisters for their contribution to the development of the country so that every mouth has something what to eat and every pocket, money, despite their task of praying. He encouraged them to continue in the same perspective to restore the image of the country because, according to him, such a hotel is a sign of peace and security in the country.
The President of the Republic called on other Burundians, especially those in civil society, to follow suit to also contribute to the development of the country instead of always talking without works because, still according to him, intelligence manifests itself in the works.
The President of the Republic encouraged the provincial administration for their involvement in the development of the province by calling on investors to come and invest in different areas, particularly hotels and tourism.
Note that the activities were completed by sharing a drink around the father of the nation.
