CANKUZO February 24th (abp) – The Burundian ombudsman, Mrs. Aimée Laurentine Kanyana, participated, in Cendajuru commune of Cankuzo province, in community development work consisting in the maintenance of the Cankuzo-Cendajuru road, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The governor of that province, Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, said that the Cendajuru commune is the most productive commune in agriculture in that province. However, the farmers of that commune make it known that they work at a loss, explaining that they do not have access to the markets for selling their products due to the poor condition of that road.

The Burundian ombudsman, in her speech, indicated that this work is organized with a view to supporting the President of the Republic in his development vision. She invited the people to always respond massively to the appeals of the leaders.

Making it known that the road has more advantages, particularly in the economy and in neighborhood relations, Mrs. Kanyana called on the local people and the natives of that province residing elsewhere to contribute to the rehabilitation of that road useful to the whole province. According to her, the government will intervene to complete the steps taken.

In agriculture, the ombudsman pointed out that the Cendajuru commune is a major producer of palm oil. It may even be the top producer nationally, she noted. She thus called on the people to make a lot of effort in the growing of palm groves.
