More than a hundred houses were destroyed and several crop fields damaged by torrential rain

CIBITOKE March 18th (ABP) – More than a hundred houses were destroyed and several crop fields damaged by torrential rain on Wednesday evening, in Buziransazi and Buhayira zones of Murwi commune, in Cibitoke province (north-west of Burundi).

The most affected villages are Jerama in the Buziransazi zone, where 33 houses were destroyed, as well as the toilets of ECOFO Buziransazi and Mugarura. In the Maranga village in the same zone, 16 houses were destroyed by that bad weather, while in Gitera, the toll is a destroyed house as well as the New Apostolic Church, in addition to several damaged crops. In Buhayira zone, at least 47 houses were destroyed in Remera village and four houses in Buhayira.

The administrator Melchiade Nzokizwanayo confirms that provisional assessment, and appeals to benefactors for sheet metal assistance to the victims, while encouraging the people to local solidarity.
