The police have arrested six illegal gold miners

MUYINGA November 23rd (ABP) – Six people were caught red-handed by the police and the intelligence service (SNR) illegally mining for gold in Kinyota village, Muyinga commune and province (northeast of Burundi) in the night from Saturday to Sunday, according to a local administrative source.

The six people were apprehended around 10 p.m. by the police who had to use warning shots to get their hands on them, said the same source.

The police also seized belongings used by these illegal miners of minerals and soil already packed in two bags. The six people arrested are in police custody, it is specified.
