MAKAMBA September 30th (ABP) – The Burundi Red Cross (CRB) proceeded this Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Nyanza-Lac in Makamba province (southern Burundi) to the distribution of the school kit to 398 children from 148 families of the Rubindi villages, Mukungu, Mvugo and Gasaba affected by the rising waters of Lake Tanganyika, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

According to the chairman of the provincial branch of the CRB in Makamba, Gilbert Ntahomvukiye, each child receives 10 notebooks, a bag, a latte, three pens and an eraser to allow school children to continue their studies.

The representative of the administrator of the Nyanza-Lac commune, Floribert Njejimana, thanked the CRB which considered these families affected by the rising waters of Lake Tanganyika asking the beneficiaries to keep these school materials for the well-being of these children who are on the school bench. One of the beneficiaries indicated that this school kit was distributed at the right time because there were children who did not show up to school because of the lack of school materials.
