According to Mr. Habimana, that work was considered because there are people who settled in the airfield space years ago. They took the opportunity to urge those occupants to vacate before the expiration of the agreed deadline, he said, adding that they have been given six months of preparation, and that there are only three months left from this month of August. He also stressed that the people at the time of the demarcation of that area was compensated.

The general manager also indicated that only cooperatives have the right to operate part of the aerodrome for their agro-pastoral activities while awaiting the start of aeronautical activities.

The socio-cultural adviser to the governor, Jean Baptiste Kwizera, for his part asked the people living in the perimeter of the aerodrome to follow the example of those who built in an anarchic way in the cities and on the national roads. He urged them to implement the government commands, to clear the space for tourists and other visitors as well.

Note that this aerodrome delimitation work will end on Thursday, August 19, 2021
