BUJUMBURA, May 29th (ABP) – On Monday 27 May 2024, the President of the Republic, Évariste Ndayishimiye, led a moral talk for the soldiers of the 1st division, which covers the provinces of Bujumbura, Bujumbura city, Cibitoke and Bubanza.

According to the spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, Guilène Gatoni, that meeting is part of a series of visits that the Head of State has undertaken to meet the soldiers of the various divisions, in order to exchange views face-to-face, share the current situation and decide on the strategies to be undertaken to successfully carry out their mission.

For Mrs Gatoni, the Head of State took the opportunity to congratulate the members of the defence corps for their bravery. “If Burundi is well regarded nationally and internationally, it is thanks to their bravery”, he insisted. That moral talk was an opportunity to review the strategy to be undertaken to carry out their mission of protecting the people by bringing to justice anyone who intends to disturb the security of the people.

The Defence Forces must play an indispensable role in ensuring total security, so as to enable the population to work, especially as we move towards the vision of a Burundi that will be emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060,” concluded the spokesman for the Head of State.
