Adoption of the calendar of activities of the National Assembly for the period from 27 May to 10 June 2024

BUJUMBURA, May 29th (ABP) – Members of parliament, meeting on Tuesday 28 May in plenary session at the Kigobe hemicycle, analysed and adopted the draft calendar of activities planned for the period from 27 May to 10 June 2024.

The National Assembly (NA) is planning a plenary session to analyse and adopt the Senate’s amendments to “the draft law amending law number 1/19 of 14 September 2018 amending law number 1/15 of 19 May 2015 governing the press in Burundi”. A plenary session is planned for the election of a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), and another for analysing and adopting the Senate’s amendments to the draft law on the budget settlement and report of the Republic of Burundi for the 2022-2023 financial year.

The National Assembly is also planning a plenary session to present the “report on the visits made by members of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights to the country’s various judicial departments”, and oral questions with debate to the Minister of Justice on the same report. A plenary session is also planned to present the final report on the organisational audit and analysis of the accounts of the Independent National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) produced by the Court of Auditors.

During that period, the National Assembly will analyse and adopt on second reading the draft law on the Electronic and Postal Communications Code.
