BUBANZA, February 9th (ABP) – The rice harvest that has already been brought in in some of the fields of the Bubanza province (north-west of Burundi), looks good for this growing season A, said the director of BPEAE Bubanza , Emmanuel Ndikubaganwa.

Data from the Provincial Bureau of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (BPEAE) show that rice growing was practiced on an area of 9,017 hectares, during growing season A, including 4,800 hectares in Gihanga district and 2804 in Mpanda district.

The harvest is already underway in most of these rice fields, and the expected production for this season A is 45,085 tons of rice, specifies the same information source.

The director of BPEAE Bubanza calls on rice farmers to rush to grow rice once again, wherever irrigation water is available, for growing season B. He reassures them about chemical fertilizers for the season B.

Mr. Ndikubaganwa asks them not to waste their harvest while warning traders who collect rice production from farmers in order to speculate on price increases in the future, that they will face the music in accordance with the law.
