Some 11 kinds of drinks have been seized in the town of Kayanza

KAYANZA, January 4th (ABP) – Some 11 kinds of drinks were seized on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the town of Kayanza (north) during a search carried out by police from the Kayanza communal police station.

These include drinks packaged in bottles of less than 750 ml and whose alcohol content exceeds 16%, as well as expired drinks.

During that operation of withdrawal of drinks packaged in bottles whose capacity is less than 750 ml and whose alcohol content exceeds 16%, in accordance with the measure which came into force since January 1, 2024, the police from Kayanza communal police station seized alcoholic drinks in the following quantities: 70 bottles of drink called Safari Warage, 84 bottles of Safari Whiskey, 309 bottles of Karibu, 13 bottles of drinks called Kick, 6 bottles of Vodka type drinks, 84 bottles of drinks called Super Rafiki, 4 bottles of Polo, 6 bottles of Whiskey cocktail type drinks as well as 5 bottles of Jambo liquor.

                  The drinks seized

During the same operation, the police also seized drinks which have expired. These are 42 bottles of a Belgian drink called Leffe and 11 bottles of so-called original Coca Cola.

The communal police commissioner in Kayanza, Police Colonel Emmanuel Ntakarutimana, indicates that this operation was carried out with the aim of implementing the measure relating to the management of drinks with an alcohol content exceeding 16% recently taken by the Ministry of Interior, Community Development and Public Security.

The police will continue such searches even in other localities of the Kayanza commune, as confirmed by police officer Ntakarutimanana, while inviting all holders of drinks packaged in bottles of less than 750 ml while their alcohol content exceeds 16% to get rid of them before searches are carried out in all localities.
