Burundi will never support homosexuality, according to the Head of State

CANKUZO, January 2nd (ABP) – Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye announced on Friday, December 29, 2023, during a public broadcast that he hosted to answer questions from journalists and the people, that Burundi will not will never support homosexuality whatever the conditions because, he explained, this custom results from satanic actions while Burundi has put forward the only God.

The President of the Republic indicated that peace and security reign in the country. He urged the people to take the opportunity to carry out development work with a view to increasing production, especially since 2024 is a year of labor.

The Head of State took the opportunity to condemn the massacres of around twenty people committed by the Red-Tabara group at Vugizo in the Gatumba zone of the Mutimbuzi commune.

He clarified that Red Tabara has its headquarters in Rwanda and that the government of Burundi is still waiting for those Burundians to be sent to the country to bring them to justice.

Regarding the soldiers who are on the battlefield in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mr. Ndayishimiye said that it is with the aim of supporting other countries in the fight against terrorism as they intervene in Somalia, etc.

In politics, Evariste Ndayishimiye advised the leader of CNL party to ensure his responsibility in order to find solutions to their problems. If this persists, members could take legal action.

In energy, he reported that the Ruzibazi and Rusumo hydroelectric plants of Tanzania are functional. “We also have Jiji-Murembwe, Kirasa, Kaburantwa and Mpanda which are under construction. We have also ordered water drilling machines, with the aim of seeing cities and urban centers lit and supplied with water by 2027,” he added.

He also invited the people to manage well the little they have today. In relation to the importation of fuel, the Head of State indicated that its shortage is observed following the theft of 48 million dollars between 2019 and 2021. Consequently, since this has left a gap, fuel is imported once every two weeks. Therefore, for the related files, more than 11 billion BIF were returned to the public treasury, President Ndayishimiye has revealed.

In relation to the release of annual wages for civil servants of public institutions with special bylaws, the policy already put forward is followed. He indicated that a commission of the prime minister’s office is in the process of analyzing the calculations made in different institutions concerned, while reassuring those concerned that they will be regularized since July 2023, once this analysis is complete.

In the field of health, people expressed their dissatisfaction with having purchased medicines for children under 60 months from pharmacies under the orders of Health Center providers, while health care for this category of children is free according to Government policy. On that concern, President Ndayishimiye demanded the Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS to provide related reports to exemplarily punish the perpetrators. For this reason, he forced the ministers to leave the offices to go on the field in order to realize what is happening in the community.

In infrastructure, the Head of State promised that the paving project in the town of Cankuzo will not be canceled as many think.

In the justice sector, he affirmed the high number of detainees, pointing out that it is the loss for the country. That is why he revealed the objective of their release by having them carry out community development work with the aim of reducing prison population. However, he clarified; this objective does not concern prisoners who have committed killings and rapes. Finally, the President of the Republic of Burundi recommended the fight against injustice.

It is worthy to note that the public broadcast took place at the Amahoro stadium located in Kigamba commune of Cankuzo province.
