Burundi will host the 9th Edition of the celebration of African School Feeding Day

BUJUMBURA November 27th (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye received in audience, Friday, November 24, 2023, the regional director of the Africa region of the World Food Program (WFP) Michael Dun Ford to discuss concerns the school feeding program in Burundi.

The executive secretary within OPDAD Mr. Jean Bosco Girukwishaka announced that OPDAD is already working with WFP in the school feeding program but also in the field of nutrition.

During that audience, he said, the regional director congratulated the first lady of Burundi for her commitment and leadership to support and accompany that program while specifying that several development partners have agreed to support that program. Michael Dun Ford thus asked the Burundian First Lady to continue to support that program.

Mr. Girukwishaka finally pointed out that it was Burundi which was chosen to host the celebration of the African School Feeding Day, 9th edition by the African Union and its partners despite the various requests at the African level. Note that African School Feeding Day is celebrated on March 1 each year.
