GITEGA October 25th (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye received, Tuesday, October 24, 2024, at the presidential palace of Gitega, the special envoy of Ugandan President Yoweli Museveni, John Mulimba, who was carrying a special message, relating to the desire to further strengthen the good relations of friendship and brotherhood which unite Burundi and Uganda.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been at Burundi’s side throughout the difficult situations that Burundi has gone through in the past.
The spokesperson for the President of the Republic, Mrs. Rosine Guilène Gatoni, said that during the discussions, they mainly discussed the partnership in the air sector, more specifically, the cooperation between the Ugandan airline “Uganda Airlines” and that of Burundi “Burundi Airlines”.
Mrs. Gatoni further noted that they then discussed the question of the security situation which prevails in the region and more particularly in the east of the DRC, and returned to the impact of the support of the regional force which is deployed there and the support of the East African Community “EAC” to assist and support that country in regaining peace and security.
