Visiting China, the Burundi Head of State has met the Chinese President

BUJUMBURA August 4th (ABP) – According to information published on the French language news site of China Global Television Network (CGTN), the Chinese international 24-hour news television channel, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the Friday, July 28 the Burundi Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye visiting China. The meeting was held in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province (southwest).

According to information reported by CGTN, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that “relations between China and Burundi have withstood changes and international uncertainties”. He noted the unfailing friendship between the two countries which materializes in the sharing of happiness and misfortune.

For Mr. Xi Jinping, China and Burundi have mutual respect and develop together. According to the CGTN on site, the Chinese president affirmed China’s firm support for Burundi in the context of safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. As the CGTN specifies, Mr. Xi Jinping also affirmed, at the same time, that China supports Burundi on the path of its continued development, which opposes the interference of foreign forces. According to CGTN, Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s readiness to “continue to provide firm mutual support to Burundi on issues of common interest, so as to achieve higher levels of mutual benefits, win-win results and common development”.

According to the CGTN, President Ndayishimiye, for his part, transmitted to President Xi Jinping, the sincere greetings from the people of Burundi to the people of China.

For him, despite the geographical distance between the two peoples, they fell in love with each other. The Burundian president said he was delighted to have seen similarities in landscape between Burundi and Chengdu. On the sidelines of that meeting, President Ndayishimiye went to Chengdu to attend the opening ceremonies of the 31st summer edition of the World University Games organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
