BUJUMBURA July 5th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, handed over, on Tuesday July 4, 2023, a donation of equipment consisting of 36 motorcycles and 50 computers to the Ministry of Justice, which will be used for judicial purposes.

Mrs. Rosine Guilène Gatoni, spokesperson for the President of the Republic who delivered that donation, indicated that the field of justice is a key to the development of the country, a sector where the President of the Republic has notified that without the ‘fair justice’ development is almost impossible.

According to her, on March 12, 2023, during the ceremonies for exchanging wishes to executives and managers in the field of justice, the discussions offered the opportunity to analyze and discuss the challenges making those who are dedicated to bringing justice to the people not do so as they should, in order to try to limit complaints from the people and that every Burundian can be entitled to fair justice.

Mrs. Gatoni also pointed out that among the challenges that were raised during those exchanges, there was mainly the lack of equipment, in this case, computers and means of transport.

Thus, the Head of State made his personal commitment where he promised to offer each judicial body at the provincial level, at least, a computer and two motorcycles so that they can be facilitated in their daily missions, she added.

Mrs. Gatoni also pointed out that the Head of State would like that equipment to be truly dedicated to what it is intended for, so that those responsible for administering justice to the people can do so more easily and that the people can, in turn, feel the change that can be influenced by the availability of that material.

For his part, Chief Justice Emmanuel Gateretse, who received that material, indicated that the promise of the President of the Republic has just been fulfilled. He also thanked the Head of State for that donation which comes timely, while hoping that other donations will follow for all high courts and courts of residence to be served in full.

According to him, the 50 computers granted will allow the files to be treated in serenity. He believes that other partners could contribute for all courts to be served.
