BUJUMBURA June 7th (ABP) – The second day of the national crusade held in Maramvya zone, Bujumbura province on the occasion of President Evariste Ndayishimiye’s 3rd anniversary was oriented in two stages. In the morning, the President of the Republic chaired a moralization session for young people in the Maramvya zone. In his teachings made of testimonies, Mr. Ndayishimiye showed young people, with supporting examples, that no Burundian would say that he/she is poor. Everyone has capital, but young people don’t know it.

He told them that from raising rabbits or chickens, someone can get a cow. Doing so requires avoiding laziness, he said.

The Head of State also informed the young people of that locality that they are all Burundians. He invited them to go beyond the variable of ethnicity (Hutu, Tutsi or Twa), whatever the circumstances.

He maintained them based on the holy scriptures drawn from the book of Samuel 2, 10 – 12. He urged them to respect authority and the law, but also to be responsible for their better future.

According to the President of the Republic, basic education is an important thing. “If you start working from an early age, you will succeed and these officials who embezzle public property have undoubtedly robbed the from the home pot,” he said.

We must therefore prepare to be a leader from an early age, pray and enter into communion with God, avoiding lamentations, everything will be resolved, he added.

In the afternoon, at the Maramvya stadium, ecumenical prayer was enlivened by the religious songs of the various choirs.

In the preaching of the day, it was mentioned that God raises people up in society. It is therefore necessary to work with those who have evolved and to move away from the lazy ones. It was also pointed out that the President’s arms must be supported when he holds his command stick, in order to work in unity.

According to the preacher of the day, Burundians must work in unity by referring to the vision of a Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060.

Addressing the prayer attendees, President Ndayishimiye indicated that Burundi has been visited by Satan and the latter has been tied up, the reason why Burundians are at peace. He said he was delighted to see the unity among the different churches, which illustrates the unity of Burundians. He further clarified that in collaboration with the military and the security police of the institutions, they spent 40 days of fasting praying and God answered them.

He recalled that Kirundo province, which had experienced a drought, has once again become the breadbasket of the country. Bujumbura province which knew rice cultivation only, currently produces a lot of potatoes, hence he calls on people to unity in development work.
