The First Lady of Burundi has received in audience the representative of UNICEF in Burundi

BUJUMBURA June 22nd (ABP) – Burundi First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye received in audience, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 in Bujumbura, Mr. John Agbor, the representative of UNICEF in Burundi, who came to bid farewell to her, at the end of his term.

In an interview given to the press at the end of the audience, Mr. Agbor indicated that he came to present his thanks to the First Lady for his commitment and the support he received as a representative of the UNICEF in Burundi.

He also pointed out that during term, he asked her to intervene on a certain number of files on which she was really committed.

In a concrete way, Mr. Agbor has appreciated the commitment of the first lady on certain key issues, in this case, zero malnutrition in Burundi. On this, UNICEF is supporting the first lady in her vision to make Burundi a country with zero malnutrition. There is also the significant reduction in chronic malnutrition, which could contribute to the development of Burundi and especially to the 2040-2060 vision of the President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye.

He further specified that during their dialogue, they returned to the preparations for the Forum of Women Leaders where the theme chosen for this year revolves around family planning and demography. According to the UNICEF representative in Burundi, in these times, the subject related to demography is very important for Burundi.
