The President of the Republic chaired the meeting of the high command of the army and the police

CANKUZO April 17th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, General Evariste Ndayishimiye met, on Friday April 14, 2023, in the headquarters of Cankuzo province, the High Command of the army and the police in a meeting to assess the security situation,  a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In a press interview, the spokesperson for the President of the Republic, Mrs. Rosine Guillene Gatoni, indicated that the purpose of that meeting was to assess the implementation of the recommendations resulting from the meeting held in December of Last year.

According to Mrs. Gatoni, they mentioned the concern in the field of security where the Head of State made the participants aware of the strengthening of the quadrilogy, in order to be close to the population. They also exchanged on fraud, but also on the artificial scarcity where some traders hide agricultural products to sell them later at a high price, which plunges the people into poverty.

The Head of State challenged the participants to closely strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders to deal with this spirit aimed at disrupting the economy of the country and punish exemplarily those who will be caught red-handed. Still according to the President’s spokesperson, the Head of State took the opportunity to warmly congratulate the defense and security forces for the fact that peace and security reign in Burundi, but also for their support for the process of restoring peace and security in Africa, eastern DRC and in other countries.

He finally encouraged them to continue to honor the country, strengthen good governance and collaborate with the people in development to achieve the vision of the emergence of the country by 2040 and its development in 2060.

On the sidelines of that meeting, on the hill and commune Cankuzo, the President of the Republic proceeded to the launch of the harvest of the corn crop in a field belonging to the VASO cooperative whose harvest is estimated at more than 2 tons. He also visited a coffee field in Kigamba commune, belonging to the Mutukura military camp.
