Residents of Butaganzwa and Matongo communes are called on to develop historic sites

KAYANZA April 11th (ABP) – The governor of Kayanza province (north), Colonel Rémy Cishahayo advises the inhabitants of Nyabibuye zones in Butaganzwa and Burarana commune, Banga, Kabuye and Ruganza in Matongo commune to develop historical sites for their interest and that of those communes.

He launched that appeal at the end of the field trips carried out in two sites located in the said communes, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

On the sidelines of the raids he is organizing in different areas of Kayanza province, Governor Cishahayo visited on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the historic site housing a drum called Nyabuhoro in the past. The latter is located on the Ninga village and area of Butaganzwa commune.

On the evening of that same day, he visited the deep hole known as “Igisumanyenzi” in the history of Burundi. This site is located on the Munini village of the Banga zone in Matongo commune.

In his speech addressed to the inhabitants residing in the vicinity of these historic sites, Governor Cishahayo asked them to properly develop these historic sites starting with the tracing of the roads leading to them. For him, the population and the Butaganzwa and Matongo communes will benefit from it, which will come from tourists.

The governor also met on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the inhabitants of the Banga, Kabuye and Ruganza zones of the Matongo commune in order to collect their grievances. Lawsuits relating to conflicts constituted the main part of the exchanges.
