RUTANA March 23rd (ABP) – Members of the CNDD-FDD party in the province of Rutana granted, on Saturday March 18, 2023, two hundred and sixty rabbits worth three million nine hundred thousand Burundi francs to twenty-six associations and cooperatives of women of Musongati commune, during the launch of the granting of those domestic animals which will continue in other communes of the province, a check by ABP revealed.

The provincial secretary of that party Mr. Sylvain Nzikoruriho, indicated in his speech that the ruling party in that province took that initiative in order to implement the appeal of the President of the Republic to all Burundians to raise at least five rabbits in each household. Starting from the fact that the associations and cooperatives having benefited from that aid each represented a village, Mr. Nzikoruriho hopes that through a chain of solidarity, all the women’s associations of that commune will have rabbits in their hutches by a year because they reproduce quickly, he pointed out. He also wanted to thank the “Bagumyabanga” of Rutana province who contributed to make those rabbits available.

As for the national secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in charge of development, Mr. Martin Nivyabandi, who honored those ceremonies with his presence, he indicated that the ruling party is concerned about the development of the country because, he said, it no longer depends on aid which have not contributed much in terms of national development. Mr. Nivyabandi wished success to the women recipients of the donation, and informed them that the market for those rabbits is being prepared. However, he invited them not to sell all the production, but also to consume it because the trader’s first customer is himself.

National Secretary Nivyabandi took that opportunity to invite the people of Rutana province to be concerned about hygiene and to collect plastic objects that come as packaging for various consumable products, so that they can be returned to their factories.

The recipients of the donation thanked the members of the ruling party in that province for having thought of them. Mrs. Valérie Nyandwi who represented the Mukenyezi Gira Ijambo association of Buhinga village praised that initiative. The aid will help them not only in earning money but also in agriculture because manure from rabbits is very effective regardless of the type of crops, she said.

Note that in addition to that development activity, twenty-five houses built by CNDD-FDD party members in that province were officially handed over to the families of vulnerable people on Friday, March 17.
