The project to build a plant for mineral compound fertilizers (NPK), on the agenda of the Cabinet Meeting

GITEGA March 16th (ABP) – The Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, chaired, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the presidential palace of Gitega (center of the country) with 11 points to the agenda, according to a note from the General Secretariat of the Government.

On that agenda was the project to build a factory for the manufacture of mineral fertilizers of the NPK-blended on Jenda hill, Bugendana commune of Gitega province, presented by the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock. The same minister also presented a note requesting posts by the BTP company on behalf of REGIDESO and ABR, and another on the setting of the price to the producer of cherry coffee for the 2023-2024 coffee campaign.

As for the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research, his communication concerned the draft education sector plan 2022-2023.

In his turn, the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and the Media expressed himself on the draft law relating to the ratification of the constitution and the convention of the African Union of telecommunications signed on December 7, 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa as revised on July 10, 2014 at Le Havre.

As for the Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism, he made a presentation on two bills, one relating to the draft ministerial ordinance on measures for the application of the Civil Aviation Authority of Burundi (AACB) in terms of fees for services provided, and the other on the draft decree amending decree No 100/311 of  November 27, 2012 authorizing the State of Burundi to participate in the share capital of the company “Global Port Services Burundi”, Concessionary Company for the Operation of the Port of Bujumbura.

Regarding the Minister of Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing, his presentation concerned an information note on the state of play of the rehabilitation works of national road No3, Rumonge-Gitaza section (45 km) and related facilities.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation presented the draft cooperation agreement between the government of the Republic of Tunisia and the government of the Republic of Burundi in the field of technological and industrial development, signed in Djerba, in November 2022.

Two last communications were reported by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning. These included the bill amending certain provisions of Law No 1/08 of May 20, 2021 amending Law No 1/17 of September 25, 2007 on the organization of the National Statistical System of Burundi and the Public Investment Program (PIP) 2023-2024.
