BUJUMBURA February 20th (ABP) – Burundi Senate President Emmanuel Sinzohagera joined on Saturday, February 18, 2023 the people of the Gatumba zone in Mutimbuzi commune, Bujumbura province (western Burundi), in community development work which consisted of clearing the surroundings of the football field at the Gatumba youth center where the synthetic carpet, which is on site, will soon be laid, a check by ABP has revealed.
In his welcome address, the administrator of Mutimbuzi commune indicated that the presence of the president of the senate comes at the right time because that center had been forgotten, alluding to the delay that has just been recorded in the laying of that carpet, a donation from the national football federation, there were about five years.
In the same line of the ideas, the governor of that province, Mr. Désiré Nsengiyumva, indicated that the project of construction of a synthetic pitch was started but it was not completed. “As natives, we must engage and take another step, we want this synthetic carpet to be laid”, he underlined, before asking that distinguished guest to give them an orientation.
Addressing the people in general and the natives in particular, the President of the Burundian Senate Emmanuel recalled that they are obliged to maintain that Youth Center and to build there, in addition to that football field, land for Youth Center, adding that they are obliged to have other disciplines. He went on to stress that he had come to support the areas of games so that they do not remain aback, because sport is about good health and social cohesion. There are countries which are developed thanks to football, the talents are diverse and we must develop these talents, he said before indicating the presence of a representative of the Burundi football federation, who will show them how to continue the work and the president of the senate said that this task should end in May. He called on the natives of Bujumbura to start with those of Mutimbuzi Commune to give their contributions and the others will follow suit, added the Honorable Sinzohagera.
He called on young people to play football without forgetting to study. As Gatumba is close to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the president of the senate urged the young people of Gatumba to jealously safeguard Burundian culture.
To the people of Gatumba, who are in the rice harvest period, he asked not to sell all the production to the market and to the men not to squander the family wealth by dint of concubine behavior.
