GITEGA January 31st (ABP) – The Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media, Mrs. Léocadie Ndacayisaba, and the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, Ir. Ibrahim Uwizeye, collected the complaints of the people of Gitega (center of the country), in a visit they made last week, to the headquarters of that province, a check by ABP revealed.

The minister in charge of communication admitted that currently there are cases of scams that are made using mobile phones or cases of theft of these within the country. On this basis, she said that following the lamentations of the population, soon the Telecommunications Regulation and Control Authority (ARCT), will set up agencies in different provinces of the country, starting with Gitega province, the political capital of Burundi, with the aim of reducing the journey and making it efficient and easy to serve anyone who wants it. To that end, she invited the population to always check before sending their money to someone and to notify the telecommunications agency in time in the event of theft or loss of a Sim card.

Minister Uwizeye, for his part, indicated that they are very concerned about issues related to the supply of drinking water and electricity throughout the national territory at a low price, but that the people must regroup in villages of peace or build their house by the roads to facilitate the work. He pointed out that in Gitega province, three communes which are Nyarusange, Ryansoro and Buraza will benefit from electricity in a period not exceeding 18 months. He pointed out that the African Development Bank (AfDB) has already granted Burundi funding to electrify 36 centers that never had electricity. It should be noted that the minister in charge of hydraulics, taking into account that the city of Gitega continues to grow, promised the people of that city that soon the quantity of water distributed in that city will be increased via a project linked to the development of river water which will soon be carried out.
