Motion of support for the President of the Republic of Burundi

BUJUMBURA January 25th (ABP) – Thirteen approved political parties in Burundi released on Monday, January 23, 2023, a motion of support for the President of the Republic of Burundi, following the CNDD-FDD party congress held in Gitega on January 22, 2023.

The leader of the RADEBU party, Mr. Jean de Dieu Mutabazi, who represented the signatory political parties, indicated that the approved political parties acknowledge the role of the CNDD-FDD party in all sectors of national life, in particular, good governance, economic, political, judicial and socio-cultural sectors. He also stressed that the main concern of the President of the Republic of Burundi is to lift Burundi out of misery and poverty and make it an emerging country, and the political parties are determined to give their contribution to the construction of a future better for future generations.

According to Mr. Mutabazi, the determination of the Head of State to recover all the public funds embezzled by certain high officials of the country in collaboration with certain businessmen and the multiple efforts made to bring peace to the East of the DR Congo, improving the quality of governance in Burundi and bringing about reforms in the justice sector, are also taken into consideration.

It is thanks to the implementation of multiple development projects in different sectors that the thirteen political parties reaffirm their unwavering support for the President of the Republic for the confidence granted to him by the people of Burundi, he pointed out. They also congratulate the Honorable Cyriaque Nshimirimana on his election to the position of Deputy Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party.

Mr. Mutabazi also specified that the political parties he represented commend the resolutions of the said congress, most of which are directly linked to the welfare of Burundian families. They urge all officials responsible for embezzlement of public funds to return them without delay. He again expressed their support for the Head of State for his firm commitment to defend the interests of the people of Burundi in order to put out of harm’s way any person responsible for corruption and embezzlement and of any kind.

Mr. Mutabazi further pointed out that those thirteen political parties encourage all political parties and the entire population of Burundi to stand behind the President of the Republic in his relentless fight against poverty. He promised to always support the Head of State without reservation, in all his efforts and actions in favor of the harmonious and sustainable development of the people of Burundi.
