GITEGA January 19th (ABP) – The Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, welcomed in the afternoon of Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the presidential palace of Gitega (center of the country), the Dominican priest Godfrey Nzamujo, Founder and Director of the Songhai agro-ecological center. The president also made him visit his faming breeding center of Bitare in Bugendana commune, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In a dialogue he held with him, President Ndayishimiye indicated that he is very happy to have physically met Father Godfrey Nzamujo because, he added, he followed his experiences in agriculture on You tube, farming and environmental protection.

On his part, the founder of the Songhai center indicated that he came to Burundi to see the dynamism of Burundians, especially in the field of agriculture, because according to him, in developing countries, the population figures are rising while the economic situation in those countries continues to decline.

Priest Nzamujo also pointed out that today’s soil degradation is a severe crisis in agriculture. He added that you cannot cultivate just any old way in a country where the population is rising and the land is degrading. To that end, Mr. Nzamujo invited Africans to change the way they farm, often adopting systemic farming to improve agricultural production.

He also encouraged the President of the Republic of Burundi on his concerns to increase agricultural production by setting up an agro-pastoral breeding center. He invited other Burundians to take the model to him, in order to increase the national production in synergy.

He called on young Africans to transform our world and refuse mediocrity. He said that with young people, he hopes that all will be changed, starting with the establishment of systemic agriculture to fight against bad development, food insecurity and ignorance.
