Christine Ntahe elected the ACROFA chairperson

BUJUMBURA September 28th (ABP) – During the 11th Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of French-Speaking, Spanish-Speaking and Portuguese-Speaking Africa (ACROFA), held in Bujumbura from September 22 to 23, 2023, Mrs. Christine Ntahe, President of the Burundi Red Cross was elected the ACROFA chairperson, replacing Mr. Youssouf Traoré of Guinea Conakry, after his four-year term.

After her election, Mrs. Ntahe took that opportunity to thank all the volunteers scattered throughout the territory of Burundi, and the staff of the red cross, explaining that the cross of Burundi is better thanks to these people who come to the aid of the place of vulnerable people.

With regard to her new duties, she indicated that according to reports, the outgoing ACROFA office informed the incoming office of the main problems it faced. This is the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and the problem related to annual contributions.

For that reason, she promised that the incoming office will try to improve, carry out consultations and consultations to see how to move forward during this mandate which has just begun. It should be noted that during this general assembly, the themes of good governance, disaster risk management, meditation within national societies and others were discussed.

The countries that participated in the ordinary general assembly of ACROFA held in Bujumbura are 24 out of the 32 countries or national societies that make up ACROFA.
