BUJUMBURA July 26th (ABP) – The Prime Minister, Mr. Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, joined, Sunday July 24, 2022, in Sunday prayer, with the faithful of the Church “Evangelical Restoration Church”, located in Kanyosha zone of the commune Muha in Bujumbura City.
In his sermon, Mr. Bunyoni was inspired by the book of Deuteronomy 8:1-3: “Observe and put into practice all the commandments that I am giving you today, that you may live and be multiplied, and inherit the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers.
Remember all the way the LORD your God has taken you through these forty years in the wilderness, to humble him and test you, to find out what were the dispositions of your heart and whether or not you keep his commandments. He humiliated you, he made you suffer from hunger, and he fed you with manna, which you did not know and which your fathers had not known, in order to teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord”.
Based on that word, he called to observe 3 things. First, God calls us to be wiser in applying his commandments, as he has prescribed. Currently wisdom is being lost more and more, impatience has won hearts, he said, making it known that if we do not observe the commandments of God, we will not be able to live and benefit from his grace.
Second, God calls us to remember the blessings he has done for us. Thus, Mr. Bunyoni makes it clear that remembering should push us to seek God more and more, to have the strength to overcome temptations and to stay in line with what God wants: to observe his commandments.
Third, he called for banishing bad behavior including those that destroy core families of faith. In this regard, he stressed that we must pray to overcome the temptation to fall into evil. Believing that the forces of evil want to destroy families at all costs, if they succeed, they will have destroyed faith and hope in God.
