The Chinese Embassy in Burundi rewarded the winners of the writing contest “Me and China”

BUJUMBURA July 26th (ABP) – The Chinese Embassy in Burundi presented, on Friday July 22, 2022, the prizes to the winners of the 3rd edition of the “Me and China” writing competition.

The Chinese Ambassador to Burundi, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping said that since the 1st edition, the organization of that event has been a success. She said that this competition aims to further deepen the brotherhood between the two peoples. For her, that competition offers the opportunity to build a community with a shared future, “to better accompany the Burundian brothers in the realization of making Burundi an emerging country in 2040”, objective of the Burundian government.

Mrs. Zhao said she was deeply touched “by the deep understanding and ardent expectation for China”, which was expressed during that competition.

For Mr. Syldie Manirerekana, assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, those writings immortalize the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between China and Burundi. The latter will be able to contribute to knowing the scope of Sino-Burundian cooperation, he said. Mr. Manirerekana said that the government of Burundi appreciates with satisfaction that through writing, the Chinese government aims to strengthen cooperation.

He praised the other cultural and artistic events initiated by the Chinese representation in Burundi such as the days of theatre, song and dance.

Participants in that competition are Burundian students who have studied or are still studying in China, those who study Chinese in Burundi and those who are in the field of bilateral cooperation.

Thirteen winners received the award of excellence consisting of hand towels. Three winners were awarded for the 3rd prize of this 3rd edition, and each received an electric razor. Two winners were awarded for the 2nd prize, and each received a Smartphone. The 1st prize of this 3rd edition was awarded to Laurent Dominguez Pires who works at UNICEF.

According to the jury, “he affirmed the results of China-Africa cooperation and showed his commitment to China-Africa cooperation. The latter was based on his” experience in China combined with the performance of China-Africa cooperation that he lived in different African countries, according to the jury.

The friendship prize went to Vincent Mbonihankuye, who is studying in China, he received a laptop computer.
