BUJUMBURA June 21st (ABP) – The presidential couple joined, on Sunday, June 19, 2022, the Christians of the “Esprit de Sagesse” parish of Mutanga Sud in Bujumbura City Council, during the Sunday celebration, which coincided with the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.

The parish priest of the Esprit de Sagesse parish, Abbé Dieudonné Nibizi, in his homily, described this feast as the “Blessed Sacrament”, also called the “feast of the Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ”. During that feast, we celebrate the institution of the sacrament of the Eucharist and the real presence of Christ through the consecrated bread and wine.

For Abbé Nibizi, “we must believe in this great sacrament which gives us access to eternal life”. He thus explained that it was Jesus himself who confirmed it, quoting verse 6:51 of the Gospel according to Saint John, where Jesus says: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever”.

He also indicated that “the celebration of the feast of the Blessed Sacrament is an opportunity to bring Christ out, to visit our homes, our families to change our lives. Enter our hospitals, to heal our sick. One more opportunity to give him time to put everything in order.

Note that this Sunday celebration was followed by a public procession of Catholic Christians, towards the locality of Mugoboka, exposing the Blessed Sacrament thanks to the monstrance.
