Burundians are called on to imitate the patriotism of Bihome, Runyota and Pierre Nkurunziza

GITEGA June 13th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, on Wednesday June 8, 2022 led a moralization session for the country’s senior executives and the population of Gitega on the sidelines of the commemoration. the second anniversary of the death of President Pierre Nkurunziza, the National Guide to Patriotism, a day coupled with the celebration of the National Day of Patriotism. This session was hosted at the Ingoma stadium in Gitega.

In his speech, the Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye reminded participants that the celebration of the National Day of Patriotism is a good legacy bequeathed by the late President Pierre Nkurunziza.

He indicated that he is delighted with the step already taken in the consolidation of the patriotic spirit, because according to him, there are already significant advances in this area, namely the contribution of the Burundian diaspora in the development of the country, the close collaboration between the population and the police, the involvement of Burundian intellectuals and members of the diaspora in innovative projects, respect for the law, behavior change at the level of the administration and so on.

The Head of State deplored that there are bad behaviors that are observed among certain officials and authorities which handicap the development of the country. He cited, among other things, laziness, nepotism, corruption, embezzlement of public assets and so on.

To that end, President Ndayishimiye has indicated that he will frequently organize moralization sessions to discuss the challenges that haunt the country to find lasting solutions together. He did not forget to invite the representatives of the political parties to present themselves massively in these sessions of moralization to continue the reconstruction of the country.

To this end, President Ndayishimiye took this opportunity to apologize to all Burundians on behalf of the government for the leaders who have not properly honored their commitments to the people.

The speaker Aloys Batungwanayo, in his presentation in relation to patriotism, indicated that Bihome, Runyota and the late President Pierre Nkurunziza are true patriots that Burundians should imitate, because according to him these three legends gave themselves body and soul to restore the image of the country.

In his presentation on patriotism and the public service, the role of trade unions and public services, Me Déo Ndikumana called on the Burundian population to have a patriotic spirit by always thinking of their duty to the State but not only of their rights.

Father Désiré Yamuremye, in his presentation, reminded Burundians that their differences or political affiliations should be an asset for the development of Burundi. He challenged the leaders to behave well in their functions.

Note that the former President of Burundi Domitien Ndayizeye said that Burundians are real workers and intellectuals. He called on them in their differences to develop Burundi, to fight against discrimination, to help each other and to contribute massively to development work to fight poverty together.
