The Cabinet met with 10 items on the agenda

GITEGA June 2nd (ABP) – The Cabinet met on Wednesday June 1, 2022, at the presidential palace of Gitega, under the chairmanship of the Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, with 10 items on the agenda, according to the press release from the general secretariat of the government.

This is the bill setting the general State budget, financial year 2022-2023; a note requesting no objection to BANCOBU’s request for the share capital of the Burundi Stock Exchange; a note on the national census of georeferenced and digitized real estate assets of the State. The latter was presented by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Domitien Ndihokubwayo.

The Cabinet also analyzed the bill on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the bilateral agreement on the abolition of visas for the benefit of holders of diplomatic or service passports between the government of the Republic of Burundi and the government of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, signed on March 17, 2022 in Algiers and the bill on ratification between the government of the Republic of Turkey and the government of the Republic of Burundi with a view to avoiding double taxation and preventing fraud income tax as well as the bill on the ratification by the Republic of Burundi of the general cooperation agreement between the government of Burundi and the government of the State of Israel. That bill was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Mr. Albert Shingiro.

The Cabinet also analyzed an information note on the “e-nama” platform integrating the interconnection of members of the government, presented by the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and the Media, a draft decree on the membership of Burundi to the single communication network of the East African Community at the “One Network Area” (ONA) initiative, presented by the services of the Presidency of the Republic; a note on the management of problems caused by the non-compliance with legal texts by certain officials of basic, post-basic and university education institutions presented by the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research, Dr. François Havyarimana.

Among the miscellaneous items, the Cabinet discussed the progress report on the implementation of the recommendations of the Cabinet in relation to the land housing the AFB former stadium, presented by the Minister of Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing, Ir. Déogratias Nsanganiyumwami; a note on the progress of the negotiations of the support project for the Digital Economy Foundations “PAFEN”; an information note in relation to the stock of equipment of the Digital Broadcasting Company of Burundi (STNB), presented by the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media, Mrs. Léocadie Ndacayisaba; an information note on Rift Valley fever detected in cattle as well as the measures taken to deal with it, presented by the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Déo Guide Rurema ; a presentation note of roadmap on the terms and conditions of the Musongati Nickel and Associated Minerals Project presented by the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, Ir. Ibrahim Uwizeye.
