BURURI May 17th (ABP) – The UPRONA party celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the headquarters of Bururi province, the 60th anniversary of the victory of the party, which led the country to independence, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The president of the UPRONA party, Mr. Olivier Nkurunziza, said that Bururi province is the eighth, visited during this year to celebrate that victory. He indicated that no political party in Burundi will seek independence or democracy because, he added, it was the UPRONA party that fought in difficult times for independence. He asked the badasigana to collaborate with other members of the political formations, to participate in the work of development of their localities through the cooperatives.
He totally rejected any involvement in the tragic events of the UPRONA party of 1972, he asked the truth and reconciliation commission to fulfill its mission to seek the truth and reconcile the Burundians, which is why it must circumvent all the events that have occurred in Burundi since independence and not to consider the only event of 1972.
The UPRONA party in Bururi province gave prizes to the office, starting with Olivier Nkurunziza the president, his deputy and the secretary general as well as the vice-president of the Republic, even if he was worthily prevented from taking part in these festivities.
