People of Rubamvyi are called on to fight against malnutrition

GITEGA May 16th (ABP) – The provincial representative of the association Union for the development, the change of mentalities and the development of humanity (UDCEH) in the company of the communal councilor in charge of administrative, political and social questions has, Thursday, May 12, 2022, officially launched in Gitega (central Burundi), the project linked to the integration of community nutrition and the fight against food insecurity in order to contribute to the improvement of nutrition and community health .

In his speech, the provincial representative of the UDCEH association, Pascal Nahimana indicated that the concern of the latter is to contribute to the improvement of nutrition and community health. It is in this spirit that this project was initiated to carry out various actions, in particular the malnutrition screening campaign, the establishment of FARNs, the promotion of vegetable cultivation (vegetable garden), awareness-raising on the infant feeding and breastfeeding, for a period of 7 months.

The communal councilor responsible for administrative, political and social issues in Gitega commune, Mr. Ernest Ntawukirishiga, who enhanced these ceremonies with his presence, asked the UDCEH to extend the area of ​​intervention and not to disturb the population by using more time during trainings and may not be able to devote themselves properly to other development activities. He further challenged the population of Rubamvyi hill to collaborate well with UDCEH and to practice the knowledge and techniques they will learn during this period.

It should be noted that after the opening ceremonies, this association opened the malnutrition screening campaign which will last 3 days, more than 150 children aged 6 to 9 months having been screened on the first day.
