KAYANZA April 27th (ABP) – The health province of Kayanza (north) is on alert in relation to cases tested positive for malaria since the beginning of this year until the week of April 18 to 24. Those are the details of the provincial doctor in Kayanza, Dr. Célestin Congera, who calls on patients to confide in the care structures while the care providers are recommended to welcome patients well, according to the interview granted to him. Monday is World Malaria Day

According to Dr. Congera, malaria is a reality in that province. Since January until the last week of the current month of April, the province tested weekly about 7,000 positive malaria cases, he said, adding that the health district of Gahombo comes first with more than 3,000. positive cases in one week followed respectively by the health districts of Musema and Kayanza.

He testifies that the health province of Kayanza is today in a situation of alert and that it risks reaching the epidemic threshold. The causes of that resurgence of malaria are, according to him, linked in particular to climate change and the deterioration of the mosquito nets impregnated with long-lasting insecticides (LLINs) distributed in 2019. “There are even those who have benefited but who have diverted them for other purposes”, he laments, calling on the population to make good use of them.

Taking advantage of this alarming situation, the provincial doctor in Kayanza invites patients to confide in the care structures whenever they feel signs of any pathology. To healthcare providers, he calls for a warm welcome to patients who confide in them.
