CIBITOKE April 26th (ABP) – A torrential rain that fell on Mabayi commune, in Cibitoke province, on the night of April 23 to 24, caused a lot of material damage. Twelve houses destroyed by this bad weather; the provincial road 120, linking Mabayi commune to Rwanda, cut off at Kivogero village, is the assessment of the said damage. Two drinking water supply lines, AEP Nyarukore and AEP Cankanama, have been destroyed, which means that Mabayi hospital and some schools are without drinking water. Two bridges connecting Kabere village to Mukoma village and Kabere to Mayuki village were washed away by the heavy rain, which did not spare some banana fields.

The communal administrator of Mabayi, Mr. Nicodème Ndahabonyimana who confirms all that information, appeals to the Road Agency of Burundi to intervene in the rehabilitation of the Ruhororo road towards Rwanda; and the Red Cross to help rehabilitate the ECOFO Kivogero toilet block.
