CANKUZO April 18th (ABP) – The second vice president of the Senate Cyriaque Nshimirimana joined, on Saturday April 16, 2022, the people of the Kigamba commune in the Cankuzo province (east of the country) in community development work consisting in pavement of a classroom of Kibungo basic school, a check on the site by ABP revealed.

In his welcome speech, the Governor of the Cankuzo province, Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, said he was satisfied with the road maintenance work in the Kigamba commune. For him, this means that people of that commune have already understood the importance of community development work.

To that end, the second vice president of the Senate urged the people to avoid waste of the harvest. He explained that the State has specified the cost of some foodstuffs as part of supporting farmers in their activities, but not to motivate them to sell the entire harvest.

He added that the sale of the whole harvest leads the people to family disagreement. He called on them to send their children to school to bet on the consequences of overpopulation and the scarcity of arable land.

According to him, literacy will enable them to live anywhere in the world.

As for administrative and educational officials, the second vice president of the Senate called on them to follow closely the motives of school drop-outs.

Moreover, he called on the people of that province to maintain this situation of understanding and reconciliation while avoiding any ethnic division that the country has known in the past years and to protect their children against those abuses.

He recalled that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CVR) is there to strengthen unity and reconciliation among Burundians.

The second vice president of the Senate called on the CVR to take the lead in keeping peace and tightening security.
