Inauguration of the monument of the first man in space, Soviet Yuri GAGARIN

BUJUMBURA April 13th (ABP) – The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Burundi proceeded on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in Bujumbura, to the inauguration of the monument of the first man in space, Mr. Youri GAGARINE, in the presence of representatives of various ministries including that of the interior, community development and public security, the ministry of communication, information technology and the media, and the ministry of foreign affairs.

In his speech, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Mr. Valery MIkHAYLOV recalled that we are celebrating the 61-year anniversary of a new era in the history of mankind, the era of space and its operation. According to that diplomat, it is particularly encouraging that the conquest of space was won by the Soviet citizen Mr. Yuri GAGARIN, hero of the Soviet Union, who made the first space flight in the spacecraft “Vostok-1”. This flight has become a big step for all mankind on the way to progress all over the world, he said.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation also announced that on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Burundi and Russia, the inauguration of that monument proves that the two countries are delighted with relations of friendship and cooperation already existing, but also prospects for their development in all areas including education and the economy.
