The number of infection cases in Africa exceeds 9.55 million (Africa CDC)

ADDIS ABABA December 30th (Xinhua) – The total number of cases of new coronavirus infection in Africa on Wednesday evening stood at 9,551,909, the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.

According to that agency of the African Union (AU), the pandemic has so far caused 227,872 deaths on the continent, while 8,579,580 patients have recovered.

South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Ethiopia are among the countries on the continent with the most cases, according to the Africa CDC.

South Africa is the one among them with the highest number of cases of infection (more than 3.42 million) as of Wednesday evening, followed by Morocco (957,594), he added.

Southern Africa is the most affected region in terms of number of cases, followed by those in the North and East, while Central Africa is the least affected on the continent, according to the Africa CDC.
