BUJUMBURA November 26th (ABP) – The Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security said on Wednesday November 24, 2021 that he received information, through finance officials, about a misappropriation of 51,598,000 BIF by the collectors of the transport service.

Some people have expressed concern about the work of the tax inspectorate.

Through the inspection, irregularities were indeed noted, we set up a team for verification, which was confirmed, Ndirakobuca said.

He went on to stress that he brought together the people responsible to speak out on these hijackings. Those responsible who would be involved he asked to return the amounts embezzled as soon as possible. It is regrettable on this day to embezzle state funds when you have been trusted, he lamented

The transport service check was carried out in September, October and part of November, and noted a sum of 51,598,000 F which was not paid into the city hall coffers.

Minister Ndirakobuca hopes that this situation is not the same in other collection services. He thanked people all over the country for providing information.

Mr. Ndirakobuca considered that this situation constitutes a “total disappointment” in view of all the efforts made to rectify the situation as regards the collection of taxes and duties so that they are actually paid into the state coffers.

The alleged perpetrators have until Monday, November 29, 2021 to return the embezzled sum, those who confessed to the fault are forgiven because the dirty clothes are washed with the family, hammered Minister Ndirakobuca.
