The Prime Minister has received in audience the representative of the World Bank in Burundi

BUJUMBURA September 22nd (ABP) – The Burundi Prime Minister, Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, received in audience, Tuesday September 21, 2021, in his office, the representative of the World Bank in Burundi, Mrs. Véronique Kabongo.

At the end of this session, Mrs. Kabongo told the press that their meeting focused on the long-standing partnership between Burundi and the World Bank, especially the World Bank’s support for socio-economic development projects. from Burundi.

For this current year (July 2021 to June 2022), Mrs. Véronique specified that the World Bank intends to commit an envelope of 500 million US dollars as a financing donation especially in the areas of trade facilitation, road construction and infrastructure, digitalization and the field of social protection.

The representative of the World Bank in Burundi also promised that the World Bank will work with the Prime Minister by mobilizing other partners and foreign private investors to bring their capital to Burundi.

Prime Minister’s spokesperson Moïse Nkurunziza said the Prime Minister thanked the World Bank for the initiative to increase aid to Burundi from $ 300 million to $ 500 million.

The Prime Minister also welcomed the choice of areas of intervention of the World Bank in the six priority axes of the government of Burundi that the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, highlighted on the day of his inauguration.
