The EU is satisfied with the start of two projects concerning the improvement of the conditions of detention relating to women and children in Burundi

Bujumbura September 24th (ABP) – The European Union (EU) has, through the Ministry of Justice and in collaboration with the Foundation Land of Men and the Ntabariza Association, funded two projects, namely the improvement of the conditions Detention with respect to women and children in Burundi and the fight against violence against women and children, the protection of the prison population in the context of CVIV-19 “.

At the official launch of those two projects Wednesday on September 22, in Bujumbura, the EU ambassador, Claude Bochu, said he was delighted with the said launch because, he said, Child protection and the fight against gender-based violence are themes that are close to the EU. He has also been satisfied with the way in which the two projects have been prepared and are in good agreement with the Ministry of Justice and the Land of Men Foundation, for the benefit of the prison population, particularly children and women. He also emphasized the fight against the Pandemic of COVID-19 in places of detention, explaining that it is a very important component.
