RUYIGI August 31st (ABP) – The Catholic Parish of Muriza in commune Butaganzwa of Ruyigi Province (East of Burundi) celebrated Saturday, August 28, 2021 its golden jubilee, a check on the site by ABP has disclosed.

The ceremonies, led by the bishop of the Diocese of Ruyigi, Bishop Blaise Nzeyimana, were enhanced by the presence of the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media, Marie Chantal Nijimbere, who represented the government.

In his homily, Bishop Nzeyimana said that the celebration of that golden jubilee is a golden opportunity for Catholic Christians to make an introspection and cut short with the charges of witchcraft that make them talk about that and who, she deplored, sometimes lead to crimes from even murder.

Those accusations are also sometimes in the regulations of accounts between individuals or brandies for land disputes.

The bishop of the Diocese of Ruyigi recalled that the Burundian law and the Catholic Church do not allow people to do justice and even less to remove life to a person, except the creator who gives life and who can withdraw it to whom he decides. According to him, charity and unity between neighbors must be based on a spirit of humility, which is also the social base by which they can dare to repair the faults and problems that have happened in the past in order to achieve forgiveness and cohesion that allow them to build a better future and inclusive development.

The representative of the government in those ceremonies, who congratulated the Catholic Christians of the Parish Muriza for that Gold Jubilee, said that the Burundian Government positively appreciates the role of the Catholic Church in the development of Burundi in the various sectors of the life of the country.

On behalf of the Government of Burundian, Mrs. Nijimbere invited other religious denominations to follow the example of the Catholic Church to contribute to the development of Burundi and above all strengthen the capacity of their followers and to encourage them to redouble efforts to development in their respective circles and in development projects that are relevant. The Catholic Church has obviously taken the front to support the people to reach the different policies of the laborious and responsible statement of development. That is a good example for other religious denominations to join their faith in God the works aimed at development, “said Minister Nijimbere.

The parish of Muriza rents the contribution of its christians for the different occasions that require their material and financial participation, a check on the site by ABP has disclosed. The current priority project is the rehabilitation of the premises used as hosting for the monks, has been indicated.
