BUJUMBURA July 9th (ABP) – The spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, Dr. Jean-Bosco Girukwishaka told reporters on Thursday that three people were fraudulently recruited into the said ministry and directly affected in September 2020, in the health provinces of Cibitoke (north-west), Rutana (south-east), and Cankuzo (east).

Alerted by the same ministry, the police carried out their investigations which resulted in the arrest of two people working in the human resources department of the same ministry who confessed to having recruited people in return for payment of an amount varying between 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 BIF per individual, without having the competence.

The spokesman for the ministry in charge of public health, moreover, indicated that these three fraudulently recruited people received salaries until their arrest by the police. In addition, he said, investigations will continue to find other officials who have been recruited in the same way.

Dr. Girukwishaka took that opportunity to inform the people that when there is recruitment of staff within the Ministry of Public Health, notices of job vacancies are officially announced by a national recruitment commission in a transparent manner. He also indicated that the Minister of Public Health does not have Facebook pages as some people claim while seeking to scam.
