More than 60 hectares of rice were flooded by the Kanyaru River in Ntega commune

KIRUNDO May 25th (ABP) – More than 60 hectares of rice cultivation were flooded in Ntega commune of Kirundo province (northern Burundi), following the overflows of the Kanyaru river, which meant that around 3,000 households made up of more than 12,000 people have been affected, administrative sources announce.

The governor’s chief of staff Eric Nduwayezu, who visited the place to inquire about the situation, indicated that the Kinyovu and Rutagara villages are the most affected.

He asks every person with charitable purposes to come to the aid of those victims to support them while waiting for the other growing season. He indicated that the administrative officials are knocking here and there to ask for support.
