KAYANZA, June 21st (ABP) – Under the supervision of the Governor of Kayanza Province and certain provincial heads of department, the provincial directorate of education in Kayanza (north) organized last Friday the handover and takeover ceremonies between the new provincial director of education and the one recently promoted to the position of Director General of Human Resources at the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research.

These ceremonies took place at a time when this sector is doing well, it was learned on site.

Outlining the general situation of the education sector, the current Director General of Human Resources at the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Désiré Hatungimana, reassured his successor that the said sector has made significant progress, especially in terms of success in national tests and exams.

He recalled that Kayanza school province was in 12th place nationally in the State Exam, but is now third. A similar situation is observed in the end-of-9th-grade certification and orientation test. In this test, this province has moved from 12th place in 2017 to 5th in 2023. He also noted that the handover took place at a time when the Kayanza school province has no debts to individuals or legal entities.

Regarding the urgent files left to his successor, Mr. Hatungimana discussed the preparation of the State Exam and the entry competition into the 7th grade in the excellence schools, the teachers’ claims regarding the job-types and those of the teachers whose salaries have been suspended, while they are still in service, as well as the updating of the teacher personnel file.

In his advice given to the new provincial director of education, the Governor of Kayanza, Colonel Rémy Cishahayo, recommended that he work hard and collaborate with his staff as well as the communal directors of education in order to achieve good rankings in the national assessments.

For his part, the incoming provincial director, Mr. Juvénal Mbonihankuye, promised to do all his best to ensure that the education sector can continue at the same pace.
